I Wish I Could Watch The Lego Batman Movie Every Moment of My Life

I am convinced that we keep doing the same things over and over again not because we don’t learn any lessons from doing so, but because to do anything else would take too much effort.

‘Fury’ (2014) and Gore in War Movies

This reflection comes a few years (now) late, but even though I had meant to see “Fury,” a movie about a tank platoon/5-man-army set during WWII when it first came out, I missed the opportunity. I don’t know if that’s for better or worse.

I Don’t Know What I Hate the Most About This Movie: ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve been steadily less and less impressed with what has come out of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. Admittedly, “Cursed Child” wasn’t nearly as bad as it seemed like it was going to be–though it certainly had its faults–but I had been avoiding “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” since looking at a preview of Zina’s review and probably wouldn’t have gone had it not been with friends.

So I went, and here is a review since it’s been a while since I’ve written any in a while. Spoilers under the cut.

It Was Never Just a Game. #LuigiMovie [‘Ouija: Origin of Evil’ Review]

Alright, so first thing’s first: when I first saw the trailer for “Ouija: Origin of Evil,” I didn’t actually realize it was a prequel to “Ouija” (2014), which is a movie I neglected to see because, honestly, the premise sounded stupid. It was stupid then, it’s stupid now, and I feel like I should have made a better choice. I didn’t, though, so here’s a review of “Ouija: Origin of Evil.”

There are spoilers ahead, so be warned.

Go See ‘The Magnificent Seven’

“But I don’t like Westerns.”

I don’t care. “The Nice Guys” was my favorite movie of the summer, and I’m pretty sure “The Magnificent Seven” is going to wind up being my favorite movie of the fall.

To Be Fair, Their Other Sequel Was Way Worse: Blair Witch (2016)

Found-footage are always plagued by the concern that they’re usually hit or miss, and the margin for error is so great that when later generations view these movies, the impact of their scares may be lost, or at least not felt as deeply. There are some found-footage that do their job well, many more that don’t, and very few that walk the line of “meh.” For me, “Blair Witch (2016)” kind of straddles that line.

I Didn’t Know You Were So Into Boxing: A Review of ‘Hands of Stone’

1. I think I might have been one of the only women in the movie theater; generally speaking, boxing fans are men, and, especially when we refer back to older days of boxing glory, it’s going to be older men.

2. All of those 50+ year old men (plus my boyfriend and me) got to see Usher’s bare rear on one of the large projection screens that all Showcase Cinema locations have.
